A jaw-dropping, artist-made Vintage David Mandel "The Show Must Go On" Giant Rhinestone Lobster Brooch! If we're being honest: it's one of the most amazing vintage pieces we've ever had the joy of offering. David Mandel apprenticed under Lawrence Vrba, the legend of theatrical costume jewelry, before launching The Show Must Go On!, and his work now lives in serious collections worldwide. In 2013 his pieces appeared in "Fashion Jewelry: The Collection of Barbara Berger" at New York's Museum of Arts and Design, and in a Swarovski-sponsored traveling exhibition; he also took first and second place in Swarovski's design contest in 2008 and 2009. His figural brooches and lobsters specifically are among the pieces collectors chase hardest.

This one is enormous, measuring in just over 7 inches long: cherry cabochons, tomato navettes, garnet rectangles and jet accents, every stone hand-prong-set into japanned metal, claws outstretched, legs dangling. It is not subtle and for the boldest of the bold. Its substantial weight is designed to wear with pride on heavily structured fabric, a bag or even a hat.

SIZE: One size fits all.

MATERIALS: Rhinestones, blackened metal.

ERA: Estimated 1990s.

CONDITION: Great vintage condition, commensurate with age.
