Iris Apfel's Vintage Jianhui London Extra Long Wood Beaded Necklace

From Iris Apfel's personal collection: A stunning multi-strand necklace made of incredible pearlescent matte gray wooden beads. Iris Apfel's Vintage Jianhui London Extra Long Beaded Necklace is made up of ten fabulous strands of stunning handmade beads that are so long, they can be worn as is or doubled up.

Iris was a personal friend of the designer of this piece, which makes it incredibly special. She collected many pieces from Jianhui London, in particular the wooden beads. So much so that the brand named the "Iris Collection" of wooden beads after her, in collaboration with her. Though we haven't been able to find a photo of her wearing this exact piece yet, these items are from her personal collection which she built over decades--often, not every piece is documented, and she wore so much jewelry, that sometimes it's easy to miss in her multi-layered stacks. But the fact that she kept this in her personal collection is truly meaningful. Photo #5 shows Iris with the designer, Jianhui, showing her necklaces that are quite similar to this one!

From Jianhui London's website: "My friendship with Iris started over a decade ago. A friend of Iris’s bought one of our classic pashmina necklaces as a gift for Iris. The necklace was made of hundreds of brightly colored, small wooden beads repurposed from wood retrieved from a furniture factory.  She thought it was the most unique design she had seen in years, wanted to see what else I made, and decided to track me down. Although my company, Jianhui London is based in London, Iris quickly learned that we regularly show our line in NYC several times a year. To our delight, she surprised me one afternoon. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and professional collaboration."

Due to their authentic provenance and delicate nature, items from the personal collection of Iris Apfel are final sale and non-returnable. Each piece will arrive with a provenance card.

CONDITION: In good secondhand condition, with some normal wear and tear that comes with age. Light visible scratching throughout.

MEASUREMENTS: Roughly 52 inches.
