Iris Apfel's Documented Bernardaud 22K Gold & Porcelain Owl Brooch

From Iris Apfel's personal collection: her very own worn Bernardaud 22K Gold & Porcelain Owl Brooch. In 2019, Iris Apfel collaborated on a very special line of jewelry with the French porcelain tabletop and giftware company Bernardaud, founded in 1863.

One of the most signature pieces of the collaboration was this huge maximalist owl brooch, rendered in fine porcelain with a coating of real 22K gold. The diamond-like eyes are a special digital print technique. This piece was made in the Bernardaud factory in Limoges, France, handmade and involving a team of specialized artisans. It is huge: measuring in at over 4 inches tall.

This very special piece is art. It was made in incredibly small batches with a luxury price tag to match--a few are still available on Bernardaud's website for $550 (though they are new, and not owned by Iris of course!). In photo #4, you can see Iris proudly wearing her brooches. The one we have is very unique, not only because Iris had it in her personal collection, but because it has actual wear marks, meaning she actually wore it and loved it. There is some slight tarnishing to the back as well as a few dings and residue on the back. The front of the brooch is in immaculate condition.

We love wearing this piece as a brooch on a fun dress or blazer. But it would also look amazing as a pendant!

CONDITION: In good secondhand condition, with some normal wear and tear that comes with age. Light visible scratching throughout. There is some slight tarnishing to the back as well as a few dings and residue.
