Iris Apfel's Antique 14K Diamond Hand Ring

From Iris Apfel's personal collection: An antique 14K gold diamond hand ring with jaw-dropping diamonds. It has a beautiful, big stone below the hand and is covered in diamonds throughout, in gold settings. Some stone are missing, please see photos. We prefer to keep it as is for the character that it adds, and have left it as is for the next collector to decide its fate. This ring looks absolutely fabulous as a pinky ring or worn higher on the top or the middle of any finger above the knuckle. Possibly converted from a pair of earrings from the late 19th century.

Preserved in her personal collection were a highly unique selection of Georgian, Victorian and earlier antique diamond and gemstone rings, many of which were converted from incredibly rare brooches, earrings and other pieces. What's most amazing about these pieces--antique jewelry collectors know, often times, 100+ year old rings can be small or dainty. Not these! Many are oversized and take up ample finger space. Constructed of historically significant materials, they come with serious personality. This is living, rare, fashion history. Each ring is simply irreplaceable, a totally one-of-a-kind heirloom to enjoy for decades to come.

SIZE: 3.75 US, resizeable by most professional jewelers.

MATERIALS: Diamonds, 14K gold band and 10K gold settings (XRF/electronically tested).

ERA: Estimated late 19th century (1870-1900). Conversion later.

CONDITION: In good secondhand condition, with some normal wear and tear that comes with age. Light visible scratching throughout. Beautiful patina that only comes with age. Handful of missing diamonds, which we have left as is to leave choice of restoration up to the next collector.
